Day Two Hocking Hills

Wednesday morning we went to Ash Cave.  Not a very long hike.  I think we only did 3 miles but the scenery was so beautiful.  I took this opportunity to play around with some of my settings on my camera and got some really green shots!

The hiking was fun and Nestle was having a blast.  No one else was around so we went ahead and took her off her leash.  She never strayed from us.  We joked that she had taken a crazy pill that morning because she would break out into a run and run circles around us and then plow into the sand!  She was one dirty but very happy dog!

The boys and I had a story we made up about how the Kebbler Elves were living in this tree.  It would have been great to be able to build a little door for this opening on the tree.

Simon goofing around.

Afterwards we found a picnic table and sat down to eat.  Everyone was ready for some food.
Afterwards Daddy was ready for a nap.

We decided that it was time to back to camp because Daddy really wanted to get that nap in.  We got him a hammock not to long ago and he was eager to test it out.  When we got back he hung his hammock!
and he forgot to calculate stretch ability!
The boys are offering their assistance on how to fix the problem.

He decided to rethink the problem.

While he was thinking about it the boys decided to go for a walk.  They found a turtle!  Poor turtle.

when they got back Nathan found the hammock was just fine for him!

This guy landed on our tent!  He was a really interesting beetle. We saw a lot of wild life while we were there.  Once when we were coming into camp we had an owl fly from one tree and just ahead of our car.  I was so shocked and in awe that I forgot to try and get a picture.  I don't think I would of been quick enough even if I had tried though.
One tuckered out city-fied dog.  She ran hard and came back to camp and passed out.  She did wake up a little earlier and was so proud of herself.  We had a raccoon that played peek-a-boo with Matt and she chased it off several times.  We decided to name the raccoon AJ.  He was pretty funny but never got to close.  Just close enough to have Nestle bark and then charge at him.  He would run and she would turn back to let me know that she needed a treat for doing her duty!
